What to expect from your first session

Your first session is about getting to know each other. Your therapist will want to understand what has brought you to therapy and what you are hoping to get from it. You do not need to prepare anything or have a clear idea of what is wrong.

Here are a few things that might help:

There is no wrong way to start.

Some people have a lot to say. Others are not sure where to begin. Both are fine.

You are in control.

You decide what to share and when. A good therapist will never push you to talk about something you are not ready for.

It might feel strange at first.

Talking to someone you have just met about personal things is not something most of us do every day. That feeling usually eases quickly.

One session does not commit you.

If the fit does not feel right, that is okay. Finding the right therapist sometimes takes more than one try.

Clear on pricing, no surprises

Therapists set their own fees; if it helps, you can tell us your budget in the intake and we will take it into account when matching you. There are no hidden fees, no platform charges to you, and no subscriptions.

Your therapist will confirm their rate and cancellation policy directly with you before your first session.

Verified credentials

Every therapist we match you with is registered with a recognised professional body (BACP, UKCP, NCPS, BABCP, or HCPC). We check this before making an introduction.

Confidential

What you share in your intake and in therapy stays between you and your therapist. Your personal data is protected under UK data protection law.

You deal with your therapist directly

Once matched, you arrange your session and pay your therapist directly. There is no platform fee to you.
